Open a file.
Get it out of your head.

Write in Markdown, keep each project in its own file, and delete finished items when you're done. A quiet workspace that stays out of your way.

Try the editor here. This browser demo saves on this device only. It is separate from the private app and does not connect to ChatGPT.

Write without switching modes

Headings, lists, links, and code render as you type. Select text when you need formatting or a little color.

One file for each project

Create a new file with a click. Open the file drawer to switch projects, then tuck it away again.

Keep a copy that travels

Export a note as Markdown or all your files as a JSON backup. Import the backup to move to another device or address.

Local by design

Your notes stay
on your device.

Notepad doesn't send your writing to our server or to chat. You choose what to export and share.

  • Notes save in the browser or app where you write.
  • Devices and website addresses have separate storage.
  • Keep a backup before clearing browser data.
  • Chat tools open the editor; they can't read your notes.

A few useful answers

Before you start.

Is Notepad available publicly?

The browser demo above is available now. The connected app is in private preview while we prepare the public OpenAI release. It has not been approved or listed publicly.

Will my notes sync between devices?

No. Notepad currently saves locally. Use Settings → Files & backups to export a JSON backup, then import it on your other device.

Can it import my ChatGPT projects automatically?

Project names can be pasted in manually, one per line. The current plugin cannot list your ChatGPT projects.

How do I move from the old Notepad address?

Export all files at your old address. Open app.jotscout.com and import the backup. The old app remains available so you can retrieve your notes. Read the migration steps.

Is this release free?

Yes. This initial release has no purchases, subscriptions, or payments.
